The Brass Lizard

by Jacques Toni

This booklet presents a selection of rock or progressive groups integrating in their arrangements horns more precisely the saxophone, creating what one may call rock-jazz (by the end of the sixties), for the first, and brass progressive rock for the second. Afterwards, although jazz had taken more importance in the composition of music, the inspiration of groups was uniformed for giving birth to a less enjoyable and a too much electric or synthetic music: jazz rock, a style never stopping its evolution in a way, and for which it is too early to try to write an history.

Progressive rock represents a new genre taking fly by the end of the sixties. Although this style prefers to stress the acoustic instruments or the keyboards, some groups integrated the brass, either punctually like the Pink Floyd in "Dark Side of the Moon", or completely in the compositions. This kind will be studied in the last part of the book, being said that progressive rock, by definition, is in constant evolution, and that the groups listed here are because they belong to a selected time, that is the seventies till the beginning of the eighties.

"A labour of love" (Progression - USA)
"A vademecum" (Arlequins - Italy)
"A complete and informative panorama" (Big Bang - France)

Beyond the Clouds

by Thierry Sportouche

Greyish, the little sparrow, is flying to the city. His goal? Against all odds, rescuing his friends, prisoners of Mr Rosetree, the bird-catcher: George, the multicoloured parakeet, Albert the guinea-pig, Dorothy the tortoise. He succeeds, despite many ups and downs, in leading his fellows to the Big Forest. They enjoy a well deserved rest, when a horde of rats led by Eilasor, a powerful and ferocious sorcerer, invades the place, setting it on fire and shedding blood everywhere. Will a magic stone, ‘The Dreamy Stone’, robbed in the elf village nearby be the solution to save our friends from the disaster?

This animal fantasy book is similar to Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows, Robert C. O’Brien’s Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, or Brian Jacques’s Redwall saga. It will delight 10 years old readers and... beyond!
